Mines Wraps Season Wednesday Night At Regis

DENVER, Colo. – Looking to cap off their 2025 on a high note, the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team lined up opposite Regis Wednesday night in their season finale. Unfortunately, a pair of early goals made for an uphill battle all night long as the Orediggers (3-10-4, 2-8-0) battled to the very end but fell to the Rangers (8-5-4, 6-2-2) 3-0.

Regis needed just 31 seconds to score off the opening kick as Jack Shimkus found Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar to put the Orediggers on their back foot right away. Regis added another goal in the eighth minute from Elias Taubo as the deficit moved to 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the night.

Mines managed to settle in defensively after the second goal and worked about trying to claw their way back into contention. Kiernan DiBella did his part making five saves in the first half as his mates found it tough to build chances against a stout Regis midfield as they remained down by two on the scoreboard at the half.

Coming out to start the second, Regis needed just 13 minutes to extend their lead as Betancourt-Tovar scored again, this time from Julian Fally to make it a 3-0 lead. Looking to their bench to spark a rally like last season, the Orediggers redoubled their efforts over the final 30 minutes, but to no avail as the Rangers closed the regular season with the win.
