COLORADO SPRINGS -
Jennifer Jarnagin and Nick Stade turned in strong results for the Orediggers on the opening day of the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi at UCCS.

Jarnagin placed second in the weight throw with a best mark of 18.68m (61-3.5), crossing 61 feet for the second consecutive week. Jarnagin's best came on her third attempt, and she also threw 18.01m on her fourth toss before fouling what would have been a big mark on her sixth and final attempt. Jarnagin now owns five of the top seven weight throw marks all-time at Mines, including the #6 entry set on Friday and #5 of 18.75m set last week.

Through four events in the heptathlon, Stade is sixth after compiling 2,764 points. The senior started the day matching his career-best 60m time of 7.05 seconds to score 865 points, then hit 6.53m (704 points) in the long jump, a personal-best 11.93m in the shot put (602 points), and then cleared 1.76m (619 points) in the high jump. Saturday holds some strong events for Stade including the 60m hurdles and pole vault as he looks to move up the standings table, currently led by Colorado State's Mateo Munoz at 3,090 points.

Saturday's heptathlon action picks back up at 10 a.m. with the 60m hurdles.
