Softball Adds Five Student-Athletes for 2027

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines head softball coach Tobin Echo-Hawk has announced the addition of five student-athletes who will join the Orediggers for the 2027 season. The newcomers hail from three different states, including three from California, and will add depth in the circle, around the infield and behind the dish.
 
Cota Barmore // Infielder/Catcher // Bellevue, Neb. // Bellevue East HS
Barmore will arrive in Golden following a career at Bellevue East High School where she competed in softball, soccer and powerlifting. As a senior, she batted .330 with 30 hits and drove in 26 with 17 runs scored. Across softball and soccer, Barmore has earned seven varsity letters to date while also claiming a 2025 Nebraska State Championship in powerlifting in the 114-weight class. Additionally, she has earned several honors including Bellevue East's Three, Six and Nine Sport Athlete Awards, a pair of All-Metro Coaches Team Honorable Mention selections and the Metro Rick Gillbride Sportsmanship Award. On the club circuit, she plays for the Nebraska Gold. Off the field, Barmore is equally decorated in the classroom with four Metro All-Academic Team awards, a pair of All-Metro Academic Honors and has also been named a High School Scholar All-American by the NFCA. She has also been the recipient of the NSAA Believers and Achievers Awards and been a fixture on the Bellevue East Honor Roll. Barmore plans to study Civil Engineering at Mines.
 
Katie Barrett // Infielder // Torrance, Calif. // South HS
Barrett will arrive at Mines next fall after wrapping up her time as a two-sport athlete in softball and flag football at South High School. She'll be the second member of the family to attend Mines, following in the footsteps of her father Joe. Barrett has led her team at South in doubles each of the past two seasons with 15 and sports a .306 batting average and playing both middle infield spots. On the gridiron, she flashes her speed and hands as a wide receiver. On the club level, Barrett competes for Cruisers VC 18U where she carries a .398 batting average. Off the field, she has earned the Spanish Seal of Biliteracy and completed the CTE Pathway program. Barrett plans to study Civil Engineering at Mines.
 
Quinn Corbett // Infielder/Catcher // Campbell, Calif. // Westmont HS
Corbett will come to Mines after prepping at Westmont High School. During the 2025 season, she batted .318 with a .378 on-base percentage and 11 extra-base hits while behind the dish threw out 36% of would-be base stealers in 139 innings of work. For her efforts, Corbett was named First Team All-League Honorable Mention in the BVAL. She also led WHS to a Central Coast Section D3 Championship and was twice named team captain. On the club level, she competes for the San Jose Sting Gron 18U. Off the field, Corbett is an AP Scholar and scored three or better on numerous AP examinations. She's also a skilled artist and placed second in the Campbell Unified High School District Art Show for her work with clay sculptures. Corbett plans to study Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
 
Claire Kohlman // Infielder/Catcher // Lake Zurich, Ill. // Lake Zurich HS
The latest Illinois product who will be making the trip to Golden, Kohlman prepped at Lake Zurich High School and is a three-year letter winner through three seasons. A career .406 hitter with a .475 on-base percentage, she has 25 doubles and 73 RBI heading into her senior season. A decorated student-athlete, Kohlman was named Lake Zurich's Most Valuable Player in 2025 and was named Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. She has twice earned All-North Suburban Conference honors and has an Honorable Mention selection to her name as well. On the club level, Kohlman competes for the Iowa Premier Gold 18U-JT where she's batted .410 with a .434 on-base percentage. She was also named to the HFL/Alliance National Qualifier 18U All-Tournament Team. Off the field, Kohlman has been a four-year Honor Roll student and is an AP Scholar. She plans to study Chemical & Biological Engineering at Mines.
 
Hannah Walker // Pitcher/Utility // Menlo Park, Calif. // Woodside HS
Walker will arrive at Mines following a standout career at Woodside High School. Through three seasons, she's recorded 130 strikeouts and posted a 2.29 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP while holding teams to a .237 BAA. At the plate, Walker has batted .274 with a .411 OBP and a .370 SLG. As a junior, she was named First Team All-Peninsula Athletic League and twice earned Most Valuable Player honors at WHS while also earning numerous Scholar Athlete Honor Roll mentions from the San Matero Daily Journal. On the club level, Walker competes for the California Riptide. She also competed for the Great Britain U18 National Team at the 2025 U18 Women's European Championship in Pamplona, Spain. Off the field, she is an AP Scholar with Distinction and been a President's Honor Roll recipient throughout her career. Walker has previously earned a silver medal in the Le Grand Concours National French Contest and is working toward completing her California State Seal of Biliteracy. She plans to study Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering at Mines.
