GOLDEN, Colo. - Records continued to fall for Colorado School of Mines as they wrapped up the second and final day of the Mines Alumni Classic on Saturday.

Jathan Busby became Mines' new fastest man indoors by breaking the program 60m dash record, while Tim Thompson reset the long-standing Steinhauer Fieldhouse record in the 800m to highlight a day of great performances for the Orediggers.

Busby twice went under Elias Limon's record pace of 6.89 seconds set in 2018, running 6.84 in prelims before an NCAA-provisional 6.78 time earned him third in the final. Busby's previous career best was 6.96 set last season.

Meanwhile, Thompson broke the fieldhouse 800m record of former national champion Mark Husted (1:51.54) set in 2015, barreling to the line in 1:51.25, which converts to 1:48.04 at sea level. Thompson's time is his career best at any elevation and the second-fastest at-elevation 800m ever run by an Oredigger; it almost certainly punches his ticket for the NCAA Indoor Championships only two days into the season. Liam Currie added an NCAA-provisional 1:55.28 in the race as well.

A day after she set the new program long jump record, freshman Violet Williams again impressed in the 60m dash, running the third-fastest performance in program history - 7.70 seconds - in her track debut. Imani Fernandez-Gorbea and Avary Catchings pushed each other in the 800m running times of 2:17.31 and 2:18.89, respectively, for first and second, while Lisa Sutherland made the 60m hurdles final and was sixth in 9.16 after running 8.93 in prelims.

Elsewhere on the track, Tegan Daughters ran 7.07 for 13th in a large 60m dash field, and Nick Stade ran 8.68 for 10th in the 60m hurdles.

In the field, Jennifer Jarnagin put together a big series to win the weight throw at an NCAA-provisional 18.75m. Jarnagin went over 18 meters four times including a final toss of 18.71m. Audrey Ott was sixth in the women's weight throw at 14.80m, while three Oredigger men competed in the weight as Franklin Rambo marked 15.60m for fifth, Keaton Reiman 15.22m for sixth, and Hayden Swim 13.59m for eighth. It represented career bests in the event for both Rambo and Reiman. In the high jump, Chloe Hawkins and Jaysen Eaton both made it over 1.46m for eighth and ninth, respectively.

BOSTON, Mass. - At Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Mines distance runners turned in elite times to open their indoor season.

Emily LaMena led a pack of strong 5,000m performances with only the second sub-16:00 time in Mines women's history, clocking 15:57.00 to jump to #2 on the Mines all-time list behind only NCAA D-II recordholder Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge. All five of Mines' women - each coming off an all-America showing at the NCAA Cross Country Championships two weeks ago - hit NCAA provisional marks and personal bests in the 5K as Grace Strongman ran a 41-second PR in 16:06.96 (the new Mines #3 performance), Margaux Basart clocked a 21-second PR in 16:20.18, Sierra Wall timed 16:24.16 in her track debut, and Lexi Herr was a tick back in 16:24.23. Collectively, they ran five of the top eight 5K performances in Mines history on Saturday.

The men 5,000m squad was led by Paul Knight's 13:44.91, with Dawson Gunn running 1:55.78 and Ethan Grolnic 13:59.65, both collegiate bests. All three times were NCAA provisionals and both Gunn and Grolnic improved on their Mines all-time top-10 list entries.

Brock Drengenberg started the day running a 4:03.57 mile, an NCAA-provisional time and the fifth-fastest mile by any competitor in program history.

Mines will compete at UCCS' Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite next weekend.
