OREDIGGERS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON AT LAST-CHANCE MEETS
With the RMAC Indoor Championships looming next weekend, Colorado School of Mines will send a selection of competitors to two last-chance meets Friday as they look to solidify national marks. Three Mines throwers will compete at the Western Colorado Last Chance in Gunnison, while six Orediggers head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Arkansas Qualifier at Randal Tyson Track Center.

LIVE COVERAGE & FAN INFO
The Arkansas Qualifier will be broadcast for subscribers on SEC Network+, with live results from FlashResults. Western Colorado meet coverage is still to be announced.

WHAT TO WATCH
In Gunnison, Mines' weight throwers will look to continue their outstanding seasons ahead of the RMAC Championships. Jennifer Jarnagin and Abbi Gillespie will compete in the women's weight throw as they sit #18 and #21, respectively, on the NCAA Division II performance list; the pair have each set PRs the last two weeks with Gillespie throwing 18.11m at Kansas State on Feb.7 and Jarnagin 18.26m at UCCS last week. Holden Murphy will compete in the men's weight throw a week after once again resetting the program record with his 19.75m toss at UCCS. Murphy is likely into nationals already sitting at #10 in D-II.

At Arkansas, Mines will enter Hayley Rayburn and Hunter Potrykus in the pole vault, Jonah Fallon in the 400m, Everett Delate in the 60m hurdles, and Alberto Campa and Brock Drengenberg in the mile. Both Oredigger pole vaulters are in good national standing as Rayburn owns D-II's #2 bar of the season (4.40m) and Potrykus is #6 on the men's side at 5.23m. Fallon has had a breakout 400m season setting the Mines program record at 47.34, but needs a fast sea-level race to improve on his #17 national standing. Delate owns the #3 60m hurdles time (7.78) but would also benefit from a strong sea-level race. In the mile, both Campa and Drengenberg need qualifying times; both men were 2024 NCAA qualifiers in the event, and were the anchor and lead-off, respectively, on Mines' DMR at the Winter Classic on Jan. 31 that ran what is now the nation's #5 time.

LAST TIME OUT
Holden Murphy and Kitt Rupar reset program throws records to lead Mines at the Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open at UCCS last Saturday. Murphy reset the program men's weight throw record for the third time this season at 19.75m, while Rupar bested her own indoor women's shot put record with a 14.87m toss to lead a day of big field performances for Mines. Dale Thompson set a season-best in the pole vault at 3.94m, and Jennifer Jarnagin moved to #2 on the women's weight throw list with her personal-best performance of 18.26m.

IN THE POLLS
Mines stayed in the top 10 of last week's USTFCCCA indoor ratings index for a third consecutive week as the men maintained their #3 ranking and women rose a spot to #7. The men's ranking is equal to its best since the 2022 season and was their best debut poll since 2020. The women's #6 ranking a month ago marked their best poll debut ever.

RECORD SETTERS
The 2024-25 Oredigger squad now includes 14 active individual recordholders, plus one relay. For the men, Loic Scomparin (3K), Everett Delate (60H), Jonah Fallon (400), the men's 4x400, Holden Murphy (WT), Franklin Rambo (SP), and Hunter Potrykus (PV) are all atop their events, while Avery Wright (60H and pentathlon), Margaux Basart (3K), Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge (5K), Kitt Rupar (SP), Claire Kintzley (TJ) and Hayley Rayburn (PV) have their names on the women's indoor record wall. Allison Comer also owns the outdoor 400 hurdles record set last season, and Wright has the outdoor heptathlon mark.

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE, PART I
Mines men's cross country lifted its fourth NCAA Division II national championship since 2015 on Nov. 23, coming back in the final two kilometers to edge Wingate in a thrilling race in Sacramento. Logan Bocovich, Loic Scomparin, and Ethan Grolnic finished 7-8-9 while Paul Knight was 21st and Dawson Gunn 25th to beat the Bulldogs by three points. The women placed fifth led by Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge, whose third-place individual run marked the best finish ever by an Oredigger woman.

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE, PART II
The Mines indoor program made history in 2023-24 by winning both the RMAC men's and women's championships, the first time in program history they have won both at the same time. It was the second consecutive title for the women and the third since 2016 for the men.

EARNING SILVER
Six current and former Mines track & field student-athletes earned degrees at the university's winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 13. Two current squad members - Shane Conley and Alex Shaw - earned the B.S. degrees in Chemical and Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, respectively, while four alumni earned master's degrees in Duncan Fuehne (Applied Physics), Bo Raadam (Earth Resources Development Engineering), Zoe Baker (Computer Science), and Aryelle Wright (Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering).

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will defend its team titles at the RMAC Indoor Championships starting Feb. 28 at UCCS.
