GOLDEN, Colo. – In their final regular season home contest of 2025, the #7/10 Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team put on a show for the nearly 1,000 people in attendance for the annual Rock the Lock game and sent this year's senior class out in style Thursday night against Regis. The Orediggers (23-3, 17-1) atoned for a three-point January loss to the Rangers (15-10, 13-4) with a wire-to-wire 83-52 victory that secured the program's 11th all-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season championship and first in the last six seasons.
Reagan Koch and
Majok Deng opened the night with consecutive three-pointers as part of a 10-0 run to start the night by the Orediggers. Trey Bryant finally got Regis on the board at 15:18 with a layup as slowly RU closed back to within half a dozen at 12-6 on a jumper by Jalen Brown, but the lead quickly moved back to double figures thanks to
Alex Romack,
Riley Schroeder and
Adam Krasovec as with 11:55 left in the half the score stood at 17-7.
Again the Rangers managed to close the gap down to six inside eight minutes following a three-pointer by Brown, but a dunk from Romack and a trey from Schroeder made it abundantly clear Mines had no interest in allowing the action to remain close. A 10-2 run to end the half including the final eight points of the period included a pair of three-pointers from
Juani Dassie and Koch that made it 41-23 heading into the locker room.
Regis did their best to try and claw back into contention as they trimmed the lead to 43-29 in the first two minutes of the second half, but another big run by Mines, this one of the 12-0 variety, blew things wide open. Krasovec kicked things off with a mid-range jumper before Deng flushed a trey and threw down a dunk off a steal by the big Hungarian. Dassie joined the party as well with a three off a
Markus Pastorcic-Straun steal that made it a 26-point lead at 55-29 with 15:35 to play.
Mines kept pouring it on as after a Bryant layup broke things up for Regis,
Cade Mankle beat the shot clock with a deep step-back trey before
Caleb Clark took it to the rack off another steal by Pastorcic-Straun. A free throw by Schroeder made it a 30-point game for the first time at the 11:49 mark at 61-31 as the home faithful were treated to an absolute show down the stretch on both sides of the ball.
Though the lead briefly dipped below 30 in the final five minutes, the Orediggers made up for it as Deng and Koch continued to stroke it from long range before Mankle added an exclamation point with another pull-up from downtown that saw the gap peak at 37 with 2:01 left at 81-44. A series of late buckets by Brown did little than to pad stats down the stretch as
Derek Lamb closed out the scoring with a layup in the final 30 seconds to close the book on an 83-52 championship-winning effort.
