GUNNISON, Colo. and FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Holden Murphy reset the program weight throw record for a second consecutive week to lead Colorado School of Mines' last-chance efforts at a pair of meets on Friday.

Mines sent a small selection of athletes to Western Colorado's Last Chance meet and the Arkansas Qualifier in hopes of solidifying national marks ahead of next weekend's RMAC Championships.

In Gunnison, the men's weight throw duel between Murphy and UCCS' Luke Hard - the two RMAC leaders - took center stage as both men surpassed 20 meters. Murphy came out the victor with a lifetime-best mark of 20.06m, surpassing his previous season-best of 19.75m twice in a series that also included a 19.94m fifth throw. He edged Hard by five centimeters, and edged his collegiate best by a centimeter to break the Mines record for the fourth time this winter. The performance moves Murphy to #8 on the D-II national list.

In the women's weight throw, Jennifer Jarnagin and Abbi Gillespie finished 1-2 as Jarnagin marked 17.42m and Gillespie 17.24m.

At the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, Brock Drengenberg ran the #2 mile time in program history, likely securing his nationals spot with a 4:00.46 clocking. That represented a six-second personal-best for Drengenberg, who finished eighth overall in a mostly D-I field; his time trails only Luke Julian's 3:58.62 program record in the Mines record book, and should slot him into the top-10 of the national performance list.

Jonah Fallon ran the second-fastest 400m time of his season and in program history, placing 12th in 47.41, less than a tenth off his Mines record. In the 60m hurdles, Everett Delate qualified for finals and finished eighth in 7.87 seconds after running a 7.85-second prelim. In an elite field of pole vaulters, Hayley Rayburn tied for fifth at 4.15m, making her first attempt at that height before bowing out at 4.30m.

Mines will compete at the RMAC Indoor Championships at UCCS starting next Friday, Feb. 28.
