MINES HOSTS TWO ARIZONA TOURNAMENTS
It will be a busy weekend for Colorado School of Mines golf as they co-host a pair of tournaments in Arizona with Colorado Christian, starting Friday with the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout and continuing Sunday with The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate. The fields for both will be identical with six participating teams inside the Scoreboard top 50 including #1 CCU and #14 Cal State East Bay.

THE TOURNAMENTS
The one-day, 36-hole Hot Dirt Desert Shootout will have a 7:30 a.m. MST shotgun start on Friday, played at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz. Then on Sunday, the 54-hole, three-day The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate begins with morning tee times at Verrado GC in Buckeye, Ariz.; that will be the same arrangement for Monday's second round before Tuesday shifts back to GC of Estrella for a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring for both tournaments is available on Scoreboard (linked above).

THE FORECAST
The forecast is for typical late-March golf weather in Arizona, with Friday in the 80s with sunshine before it warms up into the 90s for The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate.

THE COURSES
The Golf Club of Estrella is a familiar destination for the Orediggers having hosted the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout there the last two springs. One of Arizona's top publics, the course plays 7,139 yards from the tips and was designed by Jack Nicklaus II in 1999. Verrado Golf Club is situated in the White Tank foothills west of Phoenix and was designed by Tom Lehman, and it features 36 holes with The Founder's Course playing just under 7,300 yards. 

LAST TIME OUT
Mines finished 12th in a nationally-elite field at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on March 4. The Orediggers finished on their best round of the tournament going under par at 285 led by Lukas Taggart, who was 14th overall, and Colt Tenpenny and Lucas Schulte shot under-par third rounds. 

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines will take part in the FHSU Tiger Classic in Hays, Kan. on March 31 and April 1.

Shot 68 to finish T52 in Las Vegas … Led Mines in scoring in the fall at 73.3 … Top finish was 6th at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite.
3. Lucas Schulte (Sr.)
Ended with a two-under 70 to be T52 in Las Vegas … Finished the fall a career-best T21 at the Otter Invitational including a career-low round of 67
4. Max Lange (Jr.)
Was T70 in Las Vegas … Top fall finish was T13 in The Writz at Mile High.
5. Carter Lolli (Jr.)
Making first spring start … Was T13 at The Writz at Mile High and T70 at the Otter Invitational.
