OUTDOOR SEASON BEGINS IN PUEBLO
Less than a week after a successful conclusion to the indoor season in Indianapolis, Colorado School of Mines rolls right into the outdoor track & field season as it competes in the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational at CSU Pueblo on Friday and Saturday. The Orediggers will begin the season on the same track that they will end it as the NCAA Outdoor Championships will return to Pueblo in late May.

Live results of the meet are available from Rapid Results Timing. The meet is set to begin with Friday field events at 10 a.m., then pick up Saturday with track events starting at 8:30 a.m. and field events at 10 a.m.

NCAA INDOOR REWIND
The Mines men finished a best-ever third and the women were 11th as the Orediggers wrapped up the indoor season at the NCAA Championships last weekend. Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge won the national title in the 5,000m while Mines had three silver medalists - Loic Scomparin in the 3K and 5K and Everett Delate in the 60m hurdles - plus the women's pole vault bronze medalist in Hayley Rayburn. The men also scored with Hunter Potrykus in the pole vault, Holden Murphy in the weight throw and the distance medley relay getting on the podium, while the women added Claire Kintzley's first all-America honor in the triple jump. 

MINES WOMEN ACHIEVE RMAC THREEPEAT
The Oredigger women captured their third consecutive title and the men scored a program-record 160 points to place second overall at the RMAC Indoor Championships in March 1. Mines was all over the podium, crowning nine individual champions including double-gold-medalist Loic Scomparin in the 3,000m and 5,000m. Athlete of the Meet Avery Wright won the pentathlon, took silver in the 60m hurdles, bronze in the 4x400, and scored in the shot put, while Mines' middle distance was strong with wins in the 400m by Jonah Fallon and 800m by Tim Thompson. Jennifer Jarnagin won the women's weight throw, Everett Delate defended his hurdles crown, and Nick Stade captured the heptathlon title to give Mines a multis sweep.

USTFCCCA ANNOUNCES ALL-AMERICA AND ALL-REGION HONORS
Mines was well-represented on the USTFCCCA's all-America and all-region teams announced this week. The Orediggers had a dozen individuals plus a relay earn first- or second-team all-America honors based on their finishes at the NCAA Championships, and 24 individuals and a relay were named all-South Central.

IN THE POLLS
Although the outdoor polls have yet to start up, the final USTFCCCA National Ratings Index for the indoor season had the Mines men #5 and the women #8. The two sat in the top 10 all season long, and at seven polls, it marked the longest consecutive stretch of simultaneous top-10 rankings for the Oredigger men and women. 

RECORD SETTERS
The 2024-25 Oredigger squad now includes 14 active individual recordholders, plus two relays. For the men, Loic Scomparin (3K), Everett Delate (60H), Jonah Fallon (400), the men's 4x400 and DMR, Holden Murphy (WT), Franklin Rambo (SP), and Hunter Potrykus (PV) are all atop their events, while Avery Wright (60H and pentathlon), Margaux Basart (3K), Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge (5K), Kitt Rupar (SP), Claire Kintzley (TJ) and Hayley Rayburn (PV) have their names on the women's indoor record wall. Allison Comer also owns the outdoor 400 hurdles record set last season, and Wright has the outdoor heptathlon mark.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines heads back to Pueblo next weekend for the Chuck Haering Invitational on March 28-29. The Orediggers' spring schedule is highlighted by two home meets (the Kit Mayer Classic on April 12 and the Mines Pre-Conference on April 19) plus hosting duties for the RMAC Outdoor Championships on April 25-27.
