SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.
- Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge and Loic Scomparin stood out in the 10,000m run as they represented Colorado School of Mines at Sound Running's The TEN Saturday night.

In her first run since winning the NCAA Division II 5,000m indoor title earlier this month, Ramsey-Rutledge finished third in the SPIKE Women's 10,000m race in 32:31.16, smashing both the RMAC and Mines records with the #3 D-II performance of all time. With the pace set at 32:00, Ramsey-Rutledge stayed with the lead pack through the midpoint of the race, going through 5,200m in 16:40 before having to solo the back half of the race, which was won by professional Katie Camarena in a world lead of 31:45. The performance put Ramsey-Rutledge well ahead of the previous RMAC record of 32:49 set by Western Colorado's Lauren Kleppin in 2012 and the program record of 33:52 set by Zoe Baker in 2022.

Scomparin, the NCAA D-II indoor silver medalist in both the 3K and 5K, finished 14th in a large field in the SPIKE Men's 10,000m, clocking a personal-best 28:38.96. With the pace at 27:50, Scomparin immediately went to the front pack but was caught in traffic after 3,000m and lost contact with the leaders at the halfway mark. Still, as the only collegian in all-professional and international field, Scomparin slashed more than a half-minute off his previous best of 29:09 set at the 2023 Portland Distance Carnival, and it ranks as the #2 performance all-time in Mines history. Like the women's race, Scomparin's heat also produced the men's world lead as Hoka's Ellis Cross won in 27:43.

The TEN is a distance-only meet that does not count toward NCAA Division II national postseason qualifying, but does count for in-season collegiate records.

Mines is back in action next weekend with the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder and the Stanford Invite and Mike Fanelli Track Classic in California.
