COLORADO SPRINGS - Head Coach
Matt Sparks was named the men's and women's coach of the year,
Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge the co-women's track athlete of the year, and
Avery Wright the women's field athlete of the year to headline the 2025 All-RMAC teams for the indoor track & field season.
Mines accumulated 38 all-RMAC honors in total, with four Orediggers -
Allison Comer (60m hurdles, 400m),
Emily LaMena (3K, 5K),
Loic Scomparin (3K, 5K), and
Avery Wright (pentathlon, 60m hurdles, shot put) - recording multiple honors. First-Team All-RMAC honors go to finishers 1-3 in individual events and relay champions, while Second-Team All-RMAC is for finishers 4-6 individually and the runner-up relays.
Sparks, who earlier this month was also named the USTFCCCA South Central Regional Coach of the Year, earns his third career men's indoor and second women's indoor coach of the year honor. He coached the Mines women to their third consecutive RMAC Indoor team title and an 11th-place finish at NCAA Indoors, while the men scored a program-record 160 points as RMAC runners-up before going on to finish a best-ever third at the national meet.
Ramsey-Rutledge shares co-track athlete of the year honors with CSU Pueblo's Helen Braybrook after winning the NCAA Division II title in the women's 5,000m run. Ramsey-Rutledge was the RMAC silver medalist in that event and also scored points anchoring Mines' DMR; at nationals, she dominated the 5K from start to finish to win, an event in which she set the D-II all-time record earlier in the season.
Wright, who was also the RMAC Championships Women's Performer of the Meet, had a standout postseason to earn the women's field athlete of the year award. At the RMAC Championships, Wright won the pentathlon gold, was the 60m hurdles silver medalist, placed sixth in the shot put, and anchored Mines' bronze medal 4x400 relay; she scored a conference-best 22.5 team points towards Mines' championship win. Wright would qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the pentathlon and finished 12th to be a USTFCCCA Second-Team All-American.Â
