Loic Scomparin snapped the Colorado School of Mines 10,000m record to begin competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational late Wednesday night.
Scomparin's time of 28:16.81 snaps Dillon Powell's Mines record of 28:22.78 set in 2022. It puts Scomparin as the #10 performer all-time in NCAA Division II history and #5 in RMAC history. It marked an impressive 22-second improvement on Scomparin's own personal best of 28:38 which was set less than three weeks ago, also in Southern California at The TEN meet.
The time slots in as #4 in D-II this season and safely punched Scomparin's ticket to the NCAA Championships in the event, one of three Orediggers - along with
Logan Bocovich and
Paul Knight - in the national top 10 in the event.
The Orediggers continue action Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invite while also hosting the Mines Midweek Meet #2 in Golden starting at 9:30 a.m.
