Both teams put up many runs, but Mines Club Baseball fell to Air Force 16-11 at Jim Darden Field on Sunday. Air Force collected 14 hits, while Mines Club Baseball had 12.

Zack Thomases drove in four runners in the loss.

The center fielder went 2-4 on the day.

Mines Club Baseball got on the board in the top of the first inning after Matt Pane drew a walk, scoring one run, Carter Rohrig was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Caden Wells drew a walk, scoring one run, Thomases singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on another play.

Mines Club Baseball added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Thomases doubled down the left field line, and DJ Miller singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Air Force flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 9-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Karson Knox on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in three.

Mines Club Baseball captured the lead, 10-9, in the top of the fifth after Air Force committed an error, and Miller grounded out, each scoring one run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Air Force went back into the lead after Mayson Slaughter hit a sacrifice fly, and Cole Weir singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Tyler Mauldin began the game for Mines Club Baseball. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two and walking five. Guy Fox started the game for Air Force. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and six runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking two.

Mines Club Baseball tallied 12 hits in the game. Connor Brueske, Skylor Wild, Thomases, and Rohrig each collected two hits for Mines Club Baseball.
