GOLDEN, Colo. - Led by
Carter Lolli's first career top-10, Colorado School of Mines produced its best team finish of the season as they were third at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic.
The Orediggers, fifth through 36 holes, moved up the leaderboard with a -6 final round (282) to finish at -18. Midwestern State made a big run on Tuesday to get to -32 and win ahead of Chico State (-27 overall, -12 in the third round).
Lolli, who was six-under heading into the final round, shot an even par 72 on Tuesday to finish tied for 10th. It marks his best-ever finish as he battled back with two birdies in his final three holes to get to even par.
Colt Tenpenny and
Lucas Schulte led Mines in the final round as each shot three-under rounds of 69; Tenpenny's day was highlighted by an eagle on the 515-yard second, while Schulte scored five birdies in his day. Tenpenny rose to T16 (-4) and Schulte to T30 (-2).
Max Lange was third on the scoreboard for Mines at T25 overall (-3) after shooting 72, and
Lukas Taggart was also at 72 to finish at an even-par T37.
Colorado Mesa's Cole Beyer won medalist honors at -15, a shot ahead of Midwestern State's Seth Bearden.
The tournament marked Mines' final action before the RMAC Championships, which begin April 20 in southern Nevada.
