Potrykus earns the conference's highest academic honor after completing his standout pole vaulting career during indoor season. A graduate student in mechanical engineering who has already earned his bachelor's degree from Mines, Potrykus was a USTFCCCA First-Team All-American after finishing fourth at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, helping lead Mines to a third-place team finish. He cleared a season-best 5.34m at nationals, and graduates as the RMAC's co-recordholder for all-venues pole vault height at 5.41m set in 2024. This season he was also the RMAC silver medalist in helping the Orediggers to the RMAC Championships runner-up finish.
First-Team Academic All-RMAC teams are voted on by the conference's sports information directors, and nominees must have at least a 3.5 GPA and have achieved outstanding success in their sport. Impressively, six of Mines' nine first-teamers were also all-Americans at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, including national champion Ramsey-Rutledge and national runners-up Delate and Scomparin. The RMAC Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
