GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines head men's soccer coach
Greg Mulholland has announced the addition of 13 newcomers who will be joining the program ahead of the fall 2025 season. The incoming class hails from five different states and focuses on midfield talent while also adding a pair of prolific scorers, improving back line depth and landing two of the top prep goalkeepers in the state of Colorado.
Noah Bills // 5'10" // 165 // Midfielder/Defender // Broomfield, Colo. // Colorado Rapids ECNL
One of several local products in this year's class, Bills arrives in Golden as the eighth member of his family to attend Mines, joining his grandfather, father and five uncles. A four-year letter winner at Horizon High School, Bills twice served as team captain in his career and led HHS to the playoffs in each of his final three seasons. He registered three assists in his senior season and played every minute of every match to close his prep career. Bills was voted Horizon's Most Valuable Player as a senior and earned First Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State honors during his career. On the club level, he competes for Colorado Rapids ECNL. Off the field, Bills was a four-year honor roll student and a First Team All-Academic selection. He was a member of the UPSWING Program as well as the SOARing Hawk Program and plans to major in Civil Engineering at Mines.
Simon Carricaburu // 6'0" // 175 // Defender // Anchorage, Alaska // Santa Barbara City College/Western Oregon // Anchorage Youth SC
Carricaburu takes the step up to the varsity level after competing for the Mines club team during the 2024-25 season. The Alaska native began his career at Western Oregon, where he appeared in three matches for 52 minutes in the 2022 season. He then transferred to Santa Barbara City College where he was a Second Team All-Region honoree following a season in which he started 17 times in 20 matches with a goal and an assist for three points and helped lead the Vaqueros to a 10-7-5 record and an appearance in the postseason. At the prep level, he attended Service High School where he was a two-time All-State selection including a First Team honoree as a senior and an Alaska State Champion in 2021. Off the field, he graduated with honors and is studying Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
Kiernan DiBella // 6'4" // 200 // Goalkeeper // Mead, Colo. // Real Colorado Academy MLS Next
One of two goalkeepers in this year's class, DiBella attended Mead High School and played for Real Colorado MLS Next on the club circuit. Off the field, he carried a consistent GPA over 4.0 and ranked 14th in his graduating class. He intends to pursue a degree in in Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
Ashish Gurung // 6'2" // 165 // Midfielder/Defender // Commerce City, Colo. // Real Colorado Academy MLS Next
A versatile player with the ability to player numerous positions, Gurung comes to Mines after attending Colorado Connections Academy. In his one season playing at the prep level at Cibola High School, he amassed a staggered 15 goals and 11 assists for 41 points as a freshman to earn Freshman of the Year honors and the First Year Varsity Athletics Award. He completed his prep career playing for several club teams including Rio Rapids ECNL, Colorado Rapids Academy MLS Next and Real Colorado Academy MLS Next. Off the field, Gurung was a four-year honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. He intends to pursue a degree in Quantitative Biosciences & Engineering at Mines.
Avi Levin // 5'10" // 175 // Forward // St. Louis, Mo. // St. Louis Scott Gallagher MLS Next
The first of two St. Louis natives in this year's class and the younger brother of current Oredigger
Marc Levin, Avi comes to Mines by way of Ladue Horton Watkins High School where he won a State Championship and was a First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference selection in his career. On the club circuit, he played for St. Louis Scott Gallagher MLS Next and off the field was a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to study either Business or Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
Zach MacDonald // 6'4" // 200 // Goalkeeper // Superior, Colo. // Real Colorado Academy MLS Next
The second of two keepers in this year's signing class, MacDonald attended Monarch High School and competed for Real Colorado MLS Next on the club tour. There he was named a 16U NAC All-Star Selection. Off the field, MacDonald was a four-year honor roll recipient and plans to study Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
J McGill // 6'4" // 200 // Forward // Coppell, Texas // BVB ECNL
A two-sport standout in soccer and track & field at Coppell High School, McGill comes to Mines following a career in which he scored more than 40 goals at the prep level. A four-year varsity starter, he earned Honorable Mention All-District honors in 2024 and led Coppell to the playoffs in three of his four seasons. On the club level, he competes for BVB ECNL 06/07. Off the field, McGill was a four-year honor roll student and plans to major in Chemical Engineering at Mines.
Cody O'Brien // 5'8" // 155 // Forward/Midfielder // Lee's Summit, Mo. // Union Kansas City ECNL
One of three Show Me State products in this year's class, O'Brien hails from the west side of the state and comes to Golden following a four-year career at Lee's Summit High School. A four-year letter winner, he scored 31 goals and led LSHS in scoring in each of his final two seasons while also being twice voted team captain. O'Brien earned First Team All-State, All-Region, All-District and All-Conference honors as a senior while also earning All-District laurels in 2022 along with Second Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and junior. On the club level, he competes for Union Kansas City ECNL. Off the field, he was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and a member of the National Honor Society. O'Brien ranked eighth in his graduating class of nearly 500 and was a four-year Academic Letterman as well as a four-year honor roll student and plans to study Computer Science at Mines.
Aidan Sanchez // 5'10" // 150 // Defender // San Antonio, Texas // San Antonio City SC
A four-year varsity player at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School, Sanchez will arrive at Mines following a decorated prep and club career. Twice he earned District 28-6A All-District honors including First Team laurels as a senior and twice earned All-Conference honors with San Antonio City SC on the club level, including First Team honors again in 2023-24. Off the field, Sanchez earned a pair of Academic All-District selections and graduated Cum Laude as a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to study engineering at Mines.
Leo Santana // 6'0" // 160 // Midfielder // Houston, Texas // Capital City SC
The fourth of four Texans making the trip north to Colorado in this year's class, Santana attended Texas Connection Academy at Houston while playing for Houston Dynamo Academy and Capital City SC on the club circuit. During his time with the Dynamo Academy, he captained the U20 squad and was a regular call-up to practice with the Dynamo's MLS Next Pro club. After moving to Austin, he captained Capital city SC's U19 club in the fall of 2024. Off the field, Santana was a four-year honor roll recipient and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He plans to study Civil Engineering at Mines.
Antonie van Tonder // 6'1" // 172 // Defender // Prosper, Texas // FC Dallas ECNL
A two-sport athlete in soccer and football at Prosper High School, van Tonder earned three letters on the pitch and one on the gridiron and scored two goals with seven assists in his prep career. A First Team and Second Team All-District selection, he also earned First Team All-Conference honors on the club circuit with FC Dallas ECNL Off the field, van Tonder was an honor roll recipient and a First Team Academic All-State selection. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
Hudson Waddell // 6'0" // 180 // Midfielder/Defender // Corvallis, Ore. // Oregon Premier FC
Another product of the Pacific Northwest and high school teammate of current Oredigger
Kian Mueller, Waddell comes to Golden following a decorated career at Crescent Valley High School. A three-year letter winner, he netted eight goals while assisting on a further 15 for 31 points. A team captain in his final season, he was twice named a First Team Mid-Williamette Conference selection and was a First Team All-State selection as both a junior and senior. Waddell was also named to the All-American Game Top 50 Watchlist as a senior and was named one of the Defenders and Midfielders as a junior and senior by Oregon Sports Illustrated. On the club circuit, he competes for Oregon Premier FC where he served three times as captain and was an Oregon State Cup Champion. Off the field, Waddell was an Academic All-State selection and a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at Mines.
Braedan Wallace // 6'5" // 180 // Defender // St. Louis, Mo. // Lou Fusz MLS Next
The second of two St. Louis area products in this year's class, Wallace joins the Orediggers following a four-year career at Ladue Horton Watkins High School where he earned a bevy of accolades. A two-year letter winner, he was named Missouri State Player of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Team selection. Wallace was also named A First Team All-State selection, Regional Player of the Year, First Team All-Region, Defensive Player of the Year in his conference, First Team All-Conference and led LHWHS to district and state championships. On the club tour, he played for St. Louis Scott Gallagher MLS Next and Lou Fusz MLS Next. Off the field, Wallace was a HOSA State Qualifier and plans to study Biomedical Engineering at Mines.
