AZUSA, Calif. -
Colorado School of Mines saw a pair of program records go down and multiple NCAA tickets secured as they competed at two last-chance meets on Friday, May 9.

At the Franson Last Chance at Azusa Pacific, Everett Delate and Tim Thompson broke the 110m hurdles and 800m program records, respectively.

Delate ran 13.75 seconds in the 110m hurdle prelims, qualifying for Saturday's finals and moving to #6 on the NCAA performance list. He improved on his own Mines record of 13.81 seconds set earlier this year.

In the 800m, Thompson turned in a massive PR of more than a second and a half to move to #6 nationally, running 1:48.24. That bests Patrick Weaver's record of 1:48.33 set in 2018 and secures Thompson's spot at the NCAA Championships after he entered the weekend ranked #14.

Loic Scomparin needed a qualifying 5K time to go with his already-secure 10K qualification and he got it under less-than-ideal conditions, running a personal-best 13:42.71 in the twilight heat. That ranks as the #2 time ever at Mines and easily gets him into the NCAA event ranked #11. Daniel Appleford ran 14:13.41 and Ethan Grolnic 14:31.36 in the same event. Similar to Scomparin, Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge needed a countable 10K qualifying time to go with her already-secure 5K performance, and she got it to close the night running 34:37.64 which will put her #16 on the national list. In the men's 10K, Braden Struhs ran 30:42.34.

Avery Wright ended the heptathlon just shy of her season-best with 5,040 points. Wright had a 5.25m long jump, 31.48m javelin, and ran 2:25.75 in the 800m.

At the Air Force Twilight in Colorado Springs, Mines had two vaulters in action as Aidan Bennett closed his season at 4.95m, and Kai Miller 4.80m.

Mines finishes qualifying Saturday with the final day of the Franson Last Chance as well as the Loper Twilight in Nebraska.
