PUEBLO Colo.
- Twin bronze medals by Emily LaMena and Max Bonenberger in the steeplechase highlighted Day 2 of the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Thunderbowl.

The Orediggers added their third and fourth medals of the meet with two impressive runs in the 3,000m steeplechase as LaMena - a freshman - claimed third in her first try at the event at nationals, while Bonenberger ran a fantastic second half of the race to climb the podium. Both earned First-Team All-America honors in the process, while Alex Shaw won second-team recognition thanks to his 10th-place steeplechase finish.

Through two days, both the Mines men (17 points) and women (14) sit in fourth place overall in the team standings.

LaMena, who qualified fastest in Thursday's prelims, went 10 seconds faster to run 10:23.94, only two seconds off her own program record set at sea level earlier this season. She ran much of the race solo after an early break by the winner. Meanwhile in the men's race, Bonenberger rose from seventh to third over the second half of the race, closing in 8:58.99 to improve on his #8 seed. Shaw finished in 9:23.51 for 10th as he wrapped up his NCAAs debut with a finals appearance.

Tim Thompson advanced out of the 800m prelims, running 1:49.41 in the first heat and then having to wait to see if he would qualify on time, which he did in the eighth spot. Thompson will run Saturday's final for a spot on the podium.

Everett Delate ran 13.92 in the 110m hurdles prelims and got bumped from finals after three very quick heats made the cut off 13.77. Delate finished 10th overall to claim second-team all-America status. In the women's discus final to start the day, Kitt Rupar threw a best of 45.72m for 17th; she will contest the shot put on Saturday.

Mines will wrap up the meet Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
