Hall of Fame Class of 2025: Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood

7/29/2025 10:53:00 AM

One of the most decorated players in Mines Volleyball history and a leader of the team's unprecedented run of success in the mid-2010s, Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood '16 is the next member announced for the Harry D. Campbell Oredigger Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Johnson-Hazlewood is one of an elite few Orediggers in any sport to have been a four-year RMAC champion, leading Mines to the conference regular-season titles from 2012 to 2015, and adding in the program's first RMAC Tournament title as a senior in 2015. Mines qualified for the NCAA Tournament in all four of her seasons, advancing to the second round three times. Individually, Johnson-Hazlewood was a three-time AVCA All-American at setter, and she remains the only player in RMAC history to have been both the conference's Setter of the Year and Player of the Year in consecutive seasons, doing so in 2014 and 2015.

She left Mines as the program's all-time assists leader with 5,375 (now second), and still owns the two best single-season assists totals with 1,494 in 2013 and 1,471 in 2015. Behind Johnson-Hazlewood's setting and defense, Mines set the single-season records for kills per set (15.0), assists per set (14.2), and digs per set (18.0) in 2013, and had the most wins in program history with 27 during the 2015 campaign. While powering some historically productive offenses, Johnson-Hazlewood was equally adept on the defensive side of the ball, and she ranks eighth all-time at Mines with 1,304 career digs while also adding in 163 total blocks.

Johnson-Hazlewood earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 2016 and a master of architecture from the University of Houston in 2018. She is a structural professional engineer and architect for Cushing Terrell, and coaches club volleyball in the Austin area.

The Harry D. Campbell Oredigger Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will continue to be announced on minesathletics.com during the week of July 28, leading up to the ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4 as part of Homecoming Weekend. Tickets are now on sale for the event.
