Colorado School of Mines Women's Club Soccer hit the road this past weekend for a two-game swing, taking on Utah on Saturday in a neutral site match up in Grand Junction, before playing on Sunday to face host school, Colorado Mesa.
The Orediggers opened the weekend against Utah in a challenging match up that saw the Utah come away with a 4-1 victory. Despite the scoreline, Mines found a highlight moment when Jane Tucker buried a shot into the bottom left corner of the net to get the Orediggers on the board.
The team quickly regrouped for their Sunday match up against Colorado Mesa and delivered a strong response. Behind an outstanding performance from Samantha Parks, who netted two goals, including one from the penalty spot, he Orediggers earned a 3-0 victory. Center back Madeline Faulk added the third goal, heading in a corner kick to seal the team's first win of the season.
The Orediggers return home with their first win in hand and confidence building as the season continues.
