Mines Club Esports faced a tough slate of competition this past week, with four varsity teams in action across Rocket League, Overwatch, Valorant, and Counter-Strike. While the Orediggers came up short on the scoreboard, the week was highlighted by strong individual performances and memorable plays that kept the excitement high.
Rocket League Varsity opened the week on Tuesday, Sept. 16, taking on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Despite a 0–3 loss, the team showed resilience in each matchup.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Overwatch Varsity squared off against Cal State Dominguez Hills. Though the Orediggers fell 0–3, the match featured a standout moment from Jers Plunkett, who landed a perfectly timed Earthshatter to secure a crucial team wipe and swing momentum.
