Oredigger B-Side Shows Growth Against New Mexico Tech The Colorado School of Mines women's rugby B-side took the field in a 10s matchup against New Mexico Tech this weekend in Golden, continuing their mission of building depth and gaining valuable game experience. While the Orediggers fell 5-55, the match was full of positive steps forward and encouraging individual performances.
The highlight of the day came when
Arden Randazzo darted through the defense with a quick-thinking scrumhalf take, scoring the first B-side try of the season and putting Mines on the board.
Defensively, Sam Noesen set the tone with heavy tackles and key counter-rucks that disrupted New Mexico Tech's momentum.
On the attacking side, Madeline Hood made her mark with several exciting breakaway runs, showing the pace and power that will be a huge asset moving forward. Out wide, Stella Paxson came up with strong defensive stops on the wing, including a highlight-reel ankle tap that denied New Mexico Tech a scoring opportunity. Saydi Sharpeta also impressed on the wing, breaking multiple tackles and pushing the Oredigger attack forward with determined runs.
Though the final score favored New Mexico Tech, the match was another step forward for Mines' B-side. With each outing, the squad is gaining confidence, sharpening skills, and developing the depth that strengthens the entire program. The Orediggers left the field with lessons learned, plenty of positives to build on, and excitement for what's ahead.
