The Colorado School of Mines Club Ski Team headed southwest to Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado for their second race weekend of the season on January 24th and 25th, taking on two days of Giant Slalom racing against the Rocky Mountain Conference. With fast conditions and a competitive field, Mines once again put together a solid weekend of racing.
The men's team continued to build momentum, finishing 4th on Saturday and improving to 3rd place on Sunday in conference team standings. The women's team held steady with 6th-place finishes on both days, showing consistency as the season progresses.
The standout performance of the weekend came from
Schuyler Clapp, who delivered two exceptional GS results—2nd place on Saturday followed by a 1st-place finish on Sunday. His performances anchored the men's results and highlighted a strong early-season run.
Depth on the men's side played an important role as well. On Saturday, Clapp's podium finish was backed up by
Kingsley Alsop in 21st and
Parker Anderson in 29th, all finishing within the conference top 30. Sunday brought another strong showing, with Clapp taking the win, Alsop finishing 14th, and Anderson placing 23rd.
On the women's side,
Ashley Hubert led the team on Saturday with an impressive 9th-place finish in Giant Slalom. Sunday saw
Sedona Szczepaniak crack the top 30 with a 23rd-place result, continuing the team's steady presence in the field.
Overall, the Purgatory weekend marked another step forward for Mines Club Ski. With podium finishes, improving team placements, and consistent performances across both days, the Orediggers are setting a strong foundation as they head deeper into the season.
