The Colorado School of Mines Club Ski Team delivered an impressive weekend at the Winter Park USCSA races on January 18th and 19th, competing against the Rocky Mountain Conference and visiting programs including Utah and RMC. The two-day event featured slalom racing on Sunday followed by giant slalom on Monday, and Mines showed up strong across the board.
The men's team put together a dominant performance, earning 1st place in both Slalom and Giant Slalom team standings within the Rocky Mountain Conference. The women's team also battled hard throughout the weekend, finishing 5th in both SL and GS team rankings against a deep and competitive field.
Individually, the weekend was highlighted by an outstanding showing from
Schuyler Clapp, who captured 1st place in the Giant Slalom within the conference on Monday. That win also vaulted him into the series lead for the Rocky Mountain Conference, marking a major milestone early in the season.
Depth across the roster played a key role in the team's success. On Sunday's slalom, the men recorded seven top-30 conference finishes, led by Clapp in 5th and
Clayton Surber in 8th, with strong contributions from
Kingsley Alsop (12th),
Alexander Ball (19th),
Nico Tweedy (23rd), Maxwell Harper (28th), and
Diego Seignon-Perez (30th). The women followed with solid slalom results from
Sedona Szczepaniak (21st),
Madeline Travis (28th), and
Anyah Luke (29th).
Monday's giant slalom continued the momentum. Alongside Clapp's win, Surber placed 8th and Ball finished 12th, with
Parker Anderson (21st) and
Ethan Squier (25th) rounding out another strong men's performance. On the women's side,
Ashley Hubert led the charge with an impressive 6th-place finish, followed by Szczepaniak in 16th and Luke in 29th.
Overall, the Winter Park races showcased the depth, consistency, and competitive edge of Mines Club Ski. With strong team results and individual performances, the Orediggers set the tone for the rest of the season and will look to build on this momentum moving forward.Â
