GOLDEN, Colo. — Mines Men's Rugby returns to IM North on Saturday, Oct. 17, hosting the University of Colorado Boulder's second XV at 11 a.m. as the Orediggers look to build on their recent rivalry victory over Denver.
Mines enters the matchup following a hard-fought 34–19 win over the University of Denver. After conceding an early try, the Orediggers responded with strong forward play, effective scrummaging and consistent attacking pressure to take control of the match. Tries from Dempsey Brinkman, Nathaniel Oehler, Bryce Roder, Ducky Pavlides and Nate Brazen, along with Will Skaar's kicking, helped Mines secure the victory.
The performance against Denver highlighted the importance of the Orediggers' forward pack, which established a strong platform throughout the match. Mines also showed resilience on defense, holding Denver out near the try line before turning the stop into a counterattacking opportunity that led to a score for Pavlides.
Saturday's contest presents another opportunity for Mines to carry that momentum forward. Facing CU Boulder's second XV, the Orediggers will look to maintain their physical edge, control possession and continue improving their execution on both sides of the ball.
The match will also serve as an important opportunity for Mines to sharpen its fitness and build cohesion ahead of its next league contest. The Orediggers travel to face Weber State on Oct. 24, and Saturday's performance will be a chance to fine-tune their game and prepare for the challenge of league play.
Following a challenging loss to Montana State and a strong response against Denver, Mines will aim to build consistency as the season progresses. Maintaining discipline, winning the battle up front and capitalizing on scoring opportunities will be important as the Orediggers look to deliver another strong performance on their home field.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at IM North on the Mines campus.
