The Colorado School of Mines men's water polo team heads to Salt Lake City, Utah, this weekend to compete in the Rocky Mountain Division Championship on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center.
The Orediggers open championship play against Colorado State University at 12:50 p.m. before returning to the pool later in the afternoon to face either the University of Utah or Colorado Mesa University. Mines' second contest is scheduled for either 3:10 p.m. or 5:30 p.m., depending on tournament results.
The Rocky Mountain Division Championship brings together regional opponents competing for the division title and an opportunity to advance to the national championship. Mines will look to put together strong performances on both ends of the pool as the team competes against familiar conference competition.
With multiple games possible throughout the championship, the Orediggers will need to rely on disciplined defense, effective ball movement, and offensive execution to compete against the region's top teams.
Mines begins championship play Saturday at 12:50 p.m. against Colorado State, followed by a matchup with either Utah or Colorado Mesa at 3:10 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.
