COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Mines Club Women's Volleyball continued its 2026-27 campaign Saturday at the UCCS Tournament, with the Orediggers' two squads combining for four victories across eight matches. Both Mines A and Mines B opened the day with back-to-back wins before facing their respective opponents in pool play and the bracket round.

Mines A opened the tournament at 9 a.m. against UCCS and earned a straight-set victory to get the day off to a strong start. The Orediggers carried that momentum into their 10 a.m. matchup against Wyoming A, securing another two-set win to move to 2-0 and build a strong position heading into the afternoon.

Mines A returned to the court at 1 p.m. to face CSU A. The Orediggers fell in two sets, bringing their pool-play run to a close with two wins and one loss. The matchup provided another test against a competitive club opponent as Mines prepared for bracket play.

The Orediggers faced CSU A again at 2 p.m. in their first bracket-round match. In the single-set contest, Mines A fell to the Rams, ending its tournament run after two pool-play victories and a challenging afternoon against CSU A.

Mines B began its tournament earlier in the day, taking on UCCS B at 8 a.m. The Orediggers earned a straight-set win to establish early momentum and followed it with another two-set victory against Regis A at 11 a.m. The back-to-back results gave Mines B a strong start and put the squad in a good position heading into its final pool-play match.

Mines B faced CSU B at 1 p.m. but fell in two sets, finishing pool play with two wins and one loss. The Orediggers then advanced to a bracket-round matchup against Wyoming A at 2 p.m. In the single-set contest, Mines B came up short, bringing its tournament to a close after a strong opening stretch.

Together, the two squads demonstrated their ability to compete throughout a demanding day of tournament volleyball. Both Mines A and Mines B earned victories in their opening two matches before facing difficult challenges against CSU opponents and in the bracket round.

The tournament provided another opportunity for the Orediggers to build experience against a range of collegiate club programs, test their consistency across multiple matches and identify areas for improvement as the season progresses. With four wins between the two squads, Mines will look to carry the positives from its opening performances into the next stage of the fall schedule.

The Orediggers will continue their season with the upcoming University of Colorado Boulder Tournament on Nov. 7 before returning home to host a tournament at the Student Recreation Center in Golden on Nov. 15.
