GREELEY, Colo. — Mines Men's Club Volleyball will return to tournament competition Saturday, Oct. 24, traveling to the University of Northern Colorado for the Northern Colorado Tournament as the Orediggers continue their 2026-27 season.
The tournament will provide Mines with another opportunity to build on its season-opening performance at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs Tournament earlier this month, where both Oredigger squads advanced to the Gold Bracket and finished among the tournament's top five teams.
Blue enters the weekend looking to build on a third-place finish in Colorado Springs. The squad finished the tournament with a 9-5 set record, earning multiple victories in pool play before advancing to the semifinals. Blue closed its opening day with six consecutive set victories and carried that momentum into bracket play, sweeping Silver in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual tournament champion Colorado State A in the semifinals.
Silver will also look to continue its progress after finishing fifth overall in its season-opening tournament. The squad compiled a 4-5 set record, earning a sweep over Colorado Mesa University A and competing closely against CCU A and tournament host UCCS A. Silver's performance earned the Orediggers a place in the Gold Bracket alongside Blue, providing both squads with valuable early-season experience.
The Northern Colorado Tournament will give Mines another chance to strengthen its on-court communication, develop team chemistry and continue building consistency as the season progresses. With their first tournament behind them, the Orediggers can use the experience gained in Colorado Springs to make adjustments and prepare for the challenges of another day of competition.
Both Mines squads will look to carry their early-season experience into Sunday's tournament in Greeley, with an opportunity to continue improving and build momentum for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign.
