Mines Men's Club Soccer earned a 2-1 victory over Air Force Academy on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Stermole Field in a physical matchup between the two teams.

The Orediggers came out strong, taking an early lead when Luca Macouzet headed in a cross within the first 10 minutes. The remainder of the first half was closely contested, with Air Force generating several corner kicks but unable to convert before halftime.

Mines extended its lead in the second half after Mario Castro won possession in midfield and drew a penalty. Toby Johnson stepped up and converted the opportunity to put the Orediggers ahead 2-0.

Air Force found the back of the net on a breakaway late in the second half, cutting the deficit to one. Mines held its ground through the final minutes, protecting its lead to secure the 2-1 win.

The victory capped off a strong performance for the Orediggers, who maintained their composure in a physical contest and came away with the result at home.
