DENVER, Colo. — Mines Women's Rugby turned in a strong performance on Saturday, Oct. 24, winning all three of its sevens matches against the University of Denver and the University of Colorado Boulder B-side. The Orediggers combined productive attacking play with disciplined defense to finish the day undefeated.
Mines opened the day with a 24-7 win over Denver, establishing an early rhythm on both sides of the ball. Ayana Mejorado led the attack with four tries, while Victoria Campbell added another. The Orediggers created consistent scoring opportunities and limited DU to one converted try.
Mines carried that momentum into its second matchup, shutting out Denver 47-0. Piper Lee led the offensive effort with multiple tries, while Kate Osborn, Haley George and Sam Gregerson also contributed to the scoring. The Orediggers' defense kept DU off the board, while the attack continued to find space and turn opportunities into points.
The final match brought a tougher test against CU's B-side, but Mines closed the day with a 27-17 victory. Lamija Balic and Lina O'Neil helped open the scoring before CU mounted a challenge. Mines answered with additional tries from Jaci Langford, Kate Osborn and Piper Lee to secure the win and complete a three-match sweep.
Across all three contests, the Orediggers showed their attacking depth, defensive resilience and continued growth in sevens rugby. Their ability to adjust to different opponents and respond to pressure helped Mines finish the day with three victories.
