The Colorado School of Mines men's water polo team went 2-2 at the Veterans Memorial Tournament over the weekend, earning victories over University of Colorado "B" and the University of New Mexico at the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center.

Mines opened tournament play Saturday morning with a 12-7 victory over CU "B". The Orediggers maintained pressure offensively throughout the contest while putting together a strong defensive performance. Alex Noel and Keenan Melia led the Mines attack, while Liam Holan made several key saves in goal to help secure the five-goal victory.

The Orediggers returned to the pool later Saturday morning for a closely contested matchup against Colorado State University. Mines created opportunities in transition and played strong perimeter defense as the two teams battled throughout the game. The Orediggers moved the ball effectively and received solid play in goal, but CSU ultimately came away with a narrow 12-10 victory.

Mines faced CU "A" in its final contest Saturday afternoon. The Orediggers were challenged early by a strong Colorado attack and fell 25-3. Despite the deficit, Mines continued to battle defensively, creating turnovers and working to capitalize on man-up opportunities throughout the contest.

The Orediggers responded Sunday morning with one of their strongest performances of the weekend, defeating New Mexico 12-5 to close the tournament. Mines established control early with disciplined counterattacks and strong interior defense before carrying that momentum through the remainder of the game.

The victory gave Mines a 2-2 record for the weekend and provided a strong finish to a demanding four-game tournament schedule. The Orediggers scored 12 goals in each of their two victories while holding both CU "B" and New Mexico to seven goals or fewer.
