FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Mines Club Women's Volleyball will return to tournament action Saturday, traveling to Fort Collins for the Colorado State University Tournament as the Orediggers continue their 2026-27 season.
Mines is scheduled to begin play at 8 a.m. Saturday, returning to competition after opening the season with a strong showing at the Northern Colorado Tournament. The Orediggers will look to carry the momentum from their first tournament of the season into another full day of collegiate club volleyball.
Mines opened the season with two squads competing at Northern Colorado, with Team A capturing first place and Team B finishing fourth. The results provided an early indication of the depth within the club program while giving both groups valuable experience competing together and working through the demands of tournament play.
Team A went undefeated throughout its tournament run, earning four straight-set victories on the way to the championship. Team B also advanced through pool play before reaching the crossover round, ultimately finishing fourth after battling CU Denver in a three-set match.
The Colorado State tournament will provide another opportunity for the Orediggers to build on that opening performance. Mines will enter the weekend focused on continuing to develop its communication, consistency and chemistry while adapting to whatever opponents it faces throughout the day.
For Mines, the early portion of the season is about continuing to establish the identity of both squads while gaining experience against a variety of club programs. The tournament format will once again test the Orediggers' ability to maintain their energy and focus across multiple matches.
After Saturday's competition, Mines will continue its fall tournament schedule with upcoming events at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, the University of Colorado Boulder and a home tournament at the Student Recreation Center in November.
With the first tournament of the season in the books, the Orediggers head to Fort Collins looking to take another step forward. The Colorado State tournament will provide Mines with another chance to compete, improve and build on the strong foundation established in Greeley.
Mines opens play at 8 a.m. Saturday in Fort Collins.
