Mines Club Baseball continued its impressive fall campaign Sunday, Nov. 1, earning a 7-4 victory over Metropolitan State University of Denver in a seven-inning contest. The win extended the Orediggers' winning streak to six games and improved their record to 7-3-1 on the season.
Coming off a dominant three-game sweep of South Dakota Mines in October, the Orediggers carried their momentum into Denver, combining timely hitting with strong pitching performances to secure another road victory.
Max Bronson delivered the biggest offensive highlight of the afternoon, launching a three-run home run to help power the Mines offense. The home run accounted for three of the Orediggers' seven runs and provided a major contribution in the victory.
Matt Lang continued his strong stretch at the plate, recording two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Lang has been a consistent offensive contributor throughout the fall, including a three-RBI performance against CSU Pueblo and a two-hit outing against South Dakota Mines.
Sean Lann also contributed offensively, collecting a hit, drawing a walk and scoring twice to help keep pressure on the Roadrunner defense.
On the mound, Roman Williams delivered a solid start for the Orediggers, working 4.2 innings while allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three batters. Williams has been a reliable presence in the Mines pitching rotation throughout the fall, previously recording strong outings against Colorado State and CSU Pueblo.
Eli Benschoter took over in relief and helped secure the victory, pitching the final 2.1 innings while allowing one run on two hits and recording four strikeouts. The outing continued Benschoter's strong stretch after he struck out five batters in two scoreless innings against South Dakota Mines.
Together, Williams and Benschoter combined for seven strikeouts while limiting MSU Denver to five hits across seven innings.
The victory marks Mines' sixth consecutive win after opening the fall season with a 1-3-1 record. During the winning streak, the Orediggers have combined consistent offensive production with improved pitching, earning sweeps over CSU Pueblo and South Dakota Mines before Sunday's victory against MSU Denver.
Mines will look to carry that momentum into its next matchup against the Roadrunners as the Orediggers continue their push to close out the fall season on a high note.
