Mines Club Ski turned in a statement weekend at Powderhorn, combining speed, resilience, and championship-level grit across two days of competition.
Saturday's panel slalom opened the weekend with strong individual performances. Ashley Hubert led the women with a 15th-place finish, while Clayton Surber topped the men's field for Mines in 12th. Alex Ball (18th) and Kingsley Alsop (21st) added solid results as the team set the tone early.
Sunday's slalom was where Mines truly made its mark. The men's team finished 2nd and the women's team placed 4th in the Rocky Mountain Conference, highlighted by multiple top-30 finishes on both sides. On the women's side, Anyah Luke (24th), Madeline Travis (25th), and Josephine Rose (27th) all delivered strong runs. The men posted four top-30 finishes, led by an outstanding 1st-place victory from Schuyler Clapp, followed by Clayton Surber (6th), Kingsley Alsop (19th), and Ethan Squier (25th).
The weekend also showcased the toughness that defines Mines Athletics. After sustaining a potential concussion during Saturday's panel slalom time trials, Clapp was cleared and returned to dominate Sunday's slalom with a winning run. Ashley Hubert suffered a leg injury during her first bracket run on Saturday and is recovering well.
From podium finishes to team-wide contributions, the Powderhorn weekend highlighted the depth and determination of Mines Club Ski. With momentum building and confidence high, the Orediggers continue to prove they are a force in the Rocky Mountain Conference.
