Orediggers Close Conference Season with Strong Slalom Performances at Crested Butte

The Colorado School of Mines Club Ski Team closed out its conference season with two competitive days of slalom racing at Crested Butte on February 7–8. The weekend marked the final conference contest of the year and featured strong individual performances on both the men's and women's sides.

The men's team delivered an impressive showing across both days. Schuyler Clapp led the way, finishing 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday while battling Utah's TJ Weaver for the top spot in the conference standings. Clayton Surber added consistent depth with 14th-place finishes in both races. Kingsley Alsop and Alexander Ball also secured top-30 results each day. On Saturday, Alsop placed 25th and Ball 27th; on Sunday, Ball finished 25th and Alsop 27th. As a team, the men placed 4th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday, capping off a competitive season with strong momentum.

On the women's side, the team demonstrated determination throughout the weekend. In Saturday's slalom, Madeline Travis led the group with a 38th-place finish, followed by Anyah Luke in 41st and Sedona Szczepaniak in 46th. Sunday brought a breakthrough result for Travis, who secured a top-30 finish in 30th place. The women's team placed 6th on both days, continuing to build experience and consistency heading into the postseason.

With two full days of slalom competition and multiple top-30 performances, the Orediggers concluded conference racing with resilience and strong individual efforts, setting a solid foundation for the remainder of the season.
