Mines Tennis A Team Remains Undefeated in Pool Play

Mines Club Tennis spent Valentine's Day weekend dominating at their tournament.

The team put together an impressive and competitive weekend, finishing with four wins and two close losses against strong regional opponents.

Competition began Friday morning with a dominant 28–9 win over the University of Utah B team. Strong serving, consistent baseline play, and depth throughout the lineup allowed the team to set the tone early and control the match from start to finish.

Later that afternoon, they secured another decisive victory, defeating the University of Colorado Colorado Springs 30–10. The team's energy remained high, and disciplined shot selection combined with effective communication led to another commanding result.

Friday evening brought a tightly contested matchup against the University of Colorado Boulder B team. In a back-and-forth battle, the team showed composure under pressure and edged out a narrow 22–20 win, demonstrating resilience in key moments.

Saturday began with a strong 29–21 victory over Brigham Young University A. Aggressive net play and early momentum helped establish control, and the team maintained that edge throughout the match.

The afternoon matches proved to be highly competitive. The team narrowly fell to Utah A in a 24–26 thriller, with several long rallies and crucial points decided by slim margins. In the final match of the weekend, they faced Colorado Boulder A and came up short, 17–25, while continuing to compete with intensity despite a demanding schedule.

Overall, the Mines A Team went undefeated in pool play and advanced to the Gold bracket, ultimately finishing fourth—just one spot shy of qualifying for nationals. The weekend showcased the team's depth, resilience, and ability to compete at a high level, building strong momentum moving forward.
