GOLDEN, Colo. – It was a wire-to-wire win on Senior Night for the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team as they capped off action at Lockridge Arena in 2025-26 regular season with a 99-72 win over Regis to complete the season sweep. Four players finished in double figures for the Orediggers (15-15, 11-8) as they led comfortably over the Rangers (2-23, 1-17) for most of the action as they started the final week of the regular season the right way.
After celebrating the career of fifth-year senior
Caleb Clark before tipoff, the Orediggers and Rangers traded blows on the opening possessions of the night and were tied at 6-6 just over two and a half minutes into the action. A
Jonathan Moore three-pointer after a dunk by Luke Sodden put Mines back in front for good just 19 seconds later before
Shelton Henton converted a technical free throw to make it a four-point lead. To their credit, the undersized and shorthanded Rangers continued to hang with the Orediggers in the first minutes of action before
Trent Minter keyed off a 16-0 run that saw the lead swell to 26-10 by the 11:15 mark. Romack, Moore, Henton and
Kasen Lehman all chipped in during the sequence and following two free throws from Soden to momentarily break things up,
Will Cordonnier and
Cooper Mroczek joined the party following another technical foul against RU as the lead hit 20 for the first time at 36-16 inside the nine-minute mark. As the first half went on, the advantage never dipped below 14 as while Rifky Sedhom, Dylan Forbord and Nick Marabito tried to keep it close, the Orediggers always had an answer as they took at 48-30 lead into the locker room.
The second half was more of the same as Mines used their size advantage to impose their will on the Rangers offensively. The first eight points of the second half by the Orediggers came in the paint before
Silas McCurnin knocked down a corner three to make it 59-39 with 15:17 to go. McCurnin, along with Cordonnier and
Derek Lamb, helped pace the second unit and combined to score 12 straight points as part of a 12-4 run to make it a 23-point lead. The lead briefly dipped to 16 following a quick 7-2 burst from Regis, but an 8-0 run led by six from Minter pushed the gap north of 20 for good inside six minutes to play. A 10-0 run highlighted by a steal-and-score dunk off an inbounds pass by Minter saw the lead grow to its largest of the night at 96-63, and though Regis scored nine of the last 12 points in the game, it did little to make a dent in the final margin as Mines claimed the 99-72 win.
