The Colorado School of Mines Women's Lacrosse team heads west this weekend to compete in the Santa Barbara Shootout, a three-game tournament hosted in Santa Ynez, California. The Orediggers will face Colorado State University on Friday, February 6, followed by matchups against the University of Portland and Grand Valley State University on Saturday, February 7.
The tournament provides Mines an early-season opportunity to test itself against a diverse field of opponents while building rhythm and depth as the spring season gets underway.
Friday: Mines vs. Colorado State
Mines opens tournament play on Friday at 2:00 p.m. PT against Colorado State. The matchup marks the Orediggers' first contest of the weekend and sets the tone for the remainder of the shootout.
Saturday Doubleheader
The Orediggers return to action on Saturday for a pair of games, beginning with a 12:00 p.m. PT matchup against the University of Portland. Later in the afternoon, Mines will close the tournament against Grand Valley State at 4:00 p.m. PT.
With three games in two days, the Santa Barbara Shootout will challenge Mines' endurance and adaptability. The weekend offers valuable experience as the Orediggers continue to develop chemistry and evaluate lineups early in the season.
