Golden, Colo. — Mines Esports was back in action this week with Rocket League and Valorant taking the stage on Monday, February 2 at 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 5 at 8:00 p.m. The Orediggers faced tough contests in both titles and showed resilience and individual highlights throughout the matches.
Rocket League Varsity vs Waukesha County Technical College
Date/Time: Monday, February 2 at 5:00 p.m.
Result: L, 0–3
Rocket League Varsity opened the week against Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC). After dropping Game 1 by a 7–1 score, Mines rallied in Game 2 and forced overtime before ultimately falling 3–2 just over a minute into the extra period.
In Game 3, Crates (Jack Cowden) delivered a standout moment with a flip-reset double tap that kept Mines in contention, but WCTC closed out the series with another narrow 3–2 win.
Valorant Varsity vs University of Oregon
Date/Time: Thursday, February 5 at 8:00 p.m.
Result: L, 0–2
Valorant Varsity faced the University of Oregon in a two-map series.
Map 1 – Pearl: Mines struggled to overcome Oregon's coordinated team play despite strong individual efforts. Idk (Noah Fishbeck) led the Orediggers with a 13/15 K/D, but Mines fell 4–13.
Map 2 – Abyss: Mines found themselves on the back foot throughout the map as Oregon controlled early engagements and defensive setups. never forget (Joshua Lease) earned MVP honors for Mines with a 12/13 K/D, though the match concluded with a 13–2 loss.
