The Colorado School of Mines Club Esports completed one of its busiest stretches of the spring season, competing in nine matches across multiple titles from March 16–19.
Valorant JV Stays Perfect
The highlight of the week came from Mines' Valorant JV squad, which improved to a perfect 6–0 with a thrilling 2–1 victory over University of Texas at Tyler on March 19.
The Orediggers took maps one and three (13–6, 7–13, 13–3) in a back-and-forth series. Tristen Erpelding (NoodleWarrior) led the way with an outstanding 55-kill performance, earning MVP honors while adding four 3K rounds on duelists.
Brenden Murphy (Swizzle) followed closely with 53 kills, excelling on Viper and Breach while anchoring key defensive sites. Jadon Beacham (wunderworld) contributed 49 kills, just 30 deaths, and 23 assists, showcasing consistency on smokes throughout the series.
Dustin Dole (Unoseemek) added 34 kills with a steady presence on scans, while Brodie Kimbell-Jack delivered a clutch performance as a late substitute, highlighted by a momentum-shifting 1v2 that helped spark a dominant finish in game one.
League of Legends Varsity Secures Sweep
Mines' League of Legends Varsity team earned a clean 2–0 victory over Northeastern Illinois University on March 16, continuing a strong run of form as the team builds momentum heading deeper into the season.
The JV squad, meanwhile, dropped a 2–0 result by forfeit to Virginia Commonwealth University on March 19.
Rocket League Faces Tough Competition
The Rocket League Varsity team battled through two close matchups on March 16, falling 0–3 to Washington State University before a narrow 2–3 loss to Iowa State University later that evening.
The results conclude Mines' PCL season with a 2–5 record, while the team continues conference play in the MCC with additional matches ahead.
Mixed Results Across Remaining Titles
Mines' Valorant Varsity squad dropped a 2–0 decision to California State University San Bernardino on March 19.
The Rainbow Six Siege Varsity team fell 2–0 to Northern Michigan University on March 17.
In Overwatch, Mines Varsity opened its Faceit Season 8 Open League campaign with a pair of 3–0 losses to Divine Ascension Hunters (March 16) and MissClick T2 (March 18), marking the start of a new competitive slate for the program.
