GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Mines baseball dropped its series opener to #3-ranked Colorado Mesa Friday by a score of 16-0.

Tyler Pina hit a double for Mines (9-18, 6-7 RMAC). Oredigger starting pitcher
Jackson Kay (2-1) and the Mines defense held Colorado Mesa (27-3, 13-0 RMAC) through three innings as well. In the end, CMU scored four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, and 10 in the sixth to force a run-rule victory. Kay took the loss on the mound and Caleb Ruter (3-0) was the winning pitcher for the Mavericks. The home team scored its 16 runs on 17 hits including two doubles and two home runs. Mines had two hits and one double with two errors in the field.
