Mines Women’s Lacrosse Secures 2 Wins at Home Tournament

Mines Women's Club Lacrosse delivered a strong performance at the Mines Madness home tournament, finishing the day with two wins in three games at the Colorado School of Mines.

Facing a challenging slate that included tough regional opponents, the Orediggers showed resilience throughout the day, bouncing back from a difficult mid-day loss to finish the tournament action on a high note.


Game 1 – Mines 9, Utah Tech University 7

Mines opened the morning with a competitive matchup against Utah Tech, ultimately securing a 9–7 victory to start the tournament.

The Orediggers' defense set the tone early, limiting Utah Tech scoring opportunities while maintaining strong communication across the field. Adleigh Hagestad led the offensive effort with an impressive five-goal performance, helping Mines establish control throughout the game.

Additional goals from Tiera Alonso, Rory Connor, Emma Voglewede, and Cami Lyman rounded out the scoring. In goal, Reeve Nyland recorded 10 saves while facing 17 shots on goal, playing a key role in preserving the two-goal victory.

The balanced effort allowed Mines to close out the game and start the tournament with momentum.


Game 2 – Montana State University 21, Mines 2

The Orediggers faced a tough challenge in their second game against No. 1-ranked Montana State.

Montana State came out aggressively and maintained pressure throughout the contest, ultimately earning a 21–2 win. Despite the lopsided score, Mines continued competing and supporting one another while using the experience as a learning opportunity.

Adleigh Hagestad and Joy Delaney recorded the Orediggers' two goals in the game. Goalkeeper Stella Paxson faced a heavy workload, recording seven saves against a high-powered Montana State offense.

Though the result did not go their way, the team remained focused on regrouping for the final game of the day.


Game 3 – Mines 9, Southern Utah University 7

Mines responded with a strong bounce-back performance in the afternoon matchup against Southern Utah, securing another 9–7 victory.

The Orediggers demonstrated strong teamwork on both sides of the field, maintaining composure in another close contest. Adleigh Hagestad continued her standout day with three goals, while Rory Connor added three goals of her own to lead the offense.

Tiera Alonso contributed two goals and Cameron Lyman added another as Mines built enough separation to hold the lead through the final quarter.

Goalkeeper Maddie Langley anchored the defense with 11 saves on 18 shots, helping the Orediggers maintain control late in the game.


Strong Start to the Home Tournament

Overall, it was a successful opening day for Mines at the home tournament, finishing 2–1 while facing a challenging group of opponents. The team showed resilience by responding to adversity and continuing to compete throughout a busy day of games.

The tournament marked a strong showcase for the program and provided valuable momentum as the Orediggers continue their season.
