GOLDEN, Colo. — Colorado School of Mines Women's Club Soccer kicked off Colorado Cup play in dominant fashion Wednesday night, securing a 2-0 victory over UCCS in their tournament opener.
Mines controlled the pace early, generating consistent pressure in the attacking third that eventually paid off. Jane Tucker opened the scoring, finishing a well-built sequence to give the Orediggers the lead. The momentum continued as Samantha Parks added a second goal, extending the advantage and putting Mines firmly in control.
Parks played a key role throughout the match, contributing both a goal and an assist, while Lexie Moore added an assist to help fuel the offensive effort. The Orediggers' defense held strong on the other end, keeping UCCS off the scoreboard to secure the clean sheet.
With the win, Mines starts Colorado Cup play on a high note and builds momentum heading into the remainder of the tournament.
