Colorado School of Mines turned in a strong weekend performance, taking all three games against the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves behind a mix of timely hitting and effective pitching.
In the opener, Mines secured a 10–0 win in 5 innings. Blake Lawson and Skylor Wild each went deep to provide early momentum, while Christian McCollam controlled the game from the mound, allowing just two hits and striking out nine in a complete-game effort.
The Orediggers kept the pressure on in game two on April 11 at 1:00pm, earning a 15–2 victory in another shortened contest. The lineup produced consistently throughout, with Alex Guevara and Eli Benschoter both collecting three hits. Max Bronson delivered one of the biggest moments of the game with a grand slam that helped put things out of reach.
In the final game on April 12 at 11:00am, Mines closed out the series with a 12–6 win in 7 innings. Matt Pane added a home run to the weekend tally, and Eli Benschoter contributed on the mound with an impressive four-inning outing, striking out eight.
Throughout the series, Mines found success in different ways each game, using a combination of power, depth, and pitching to take control and complete the sweep. Mines will continue into post-season play as they move into playoffs May 1-3.
