Golden, Colo. — Colorado School of Mines Club Esports put together a packed and competitive week across multiple titles, highlighted by a third-place finish in the Rocky Mountain Invitational '26 and several key playoff victories.
Rocket League Varsity opened the stretch with a tough 3-0 loss to the University of Michigan, but rebounded later in the week with a strong showing at the Rocky Mountain Invitational. Mines edged out Fort Lewis College 3-2 in a tightly contested series before falling 3-0 to the United States Air Force Academy. The Orediggers closed the tournament on a high note, defeating Colorado State University 3-1 to secure a third-place finish.
In Valorant JV action, Mines delivered a dominant 2-0 win over Emerson College, taking the maps 13-7 and 13-3. The victory sets up a highly anticipated rematch with Stephen F. Austin State University in the next round.
Rainbow Six Varsity provided one of the most thrilling moments of the week, rallying for a 2-1 playoff victory over William Penn University. After dropping the opening map 0-7, Mines responded with a 7-3 win in map two before grinding out an 8-6 overtime victory in the third map to advance.
Overwatch Varsity continued its strong form with back-to-back sweeps, defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 3-0 and Team Name Pending 3-0, showcasing consistency and depth across the roster.
Across all titles, Mines demonstrated resilience, bouncing back from early setbacks and delivering in high-pressure moments. With playoff runs continuing and momentum building, the Orediggers look poised for a strong finish to the spring season.
