GOLDEN, Colo. and AZUSA, Calif.
- Violet Williams snapped the Colorado School of Mines long jump record and Sierra Wall took out the steeplechase mark to highlight a busy day of action at two meets for the Orediggers.

Mines hosted its final home meet of the year, the Mines Midweek Invite, at Stermole Track, while Oredigger distance runners got started on the first of three days in California at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday.

Williams, who set the program indoor record in December, added the outdoor long jump mark to her collection with a 6.15m performance, moving her to #5 on the NCAA Division II national performance list this season. Her leap surpassed Lexye Wood's Mines record of 6.11m set in 2024. She wasn't the only Oredigger with a big mark as Lisa Sutherland hit a collegiate-best 5.80m - making her the #7 all-time Mines performer - and Kelle Vernon had a personal-best 5.40m.

Alejandro Philippart led Mines' men in the long jump with an outstanding series that culminated in a 7.42m leap, taking him to #3 all-time in Mines history. Zander Besch marked 6.97m, and multi-athlete Vaughn Hafner 6.16m.

Aidan Bennett improved his standing on the national performance list with his collegiate all-venues best pole vault mark of 5.16m, taking it out on his first attempt. Multi-athlete Nick Stade cleared a personal-best 4.64m in preparation for the RMAC Championships, and Kai Miller also got over 4.64m. Arabella Chen led the women's vault group with a 3.52m clearance as Julia Acker and Madeline Obuchowski each made it over 3.37m.

Jathan Busby ran the fourth-fastest men's 100m dash in program history to win at 10.59, as he now owns three of the top four times at Mines, all set this season. Eric Hill Jr. cracked 11 seconds in 10.99 while Nick Stade ran 11.14 and Alex Dusseau 11.21. Tegan Daughters ran 21.54 to win the 200m with Dusseau setting a personal-best 21.65 for second, Crockett Becker running 21.92, Hill 22.38, and Bode Adeleke 23.10. Ollie Sehr was the lone Oredigger man in the 400m finishing in 49.34.

Five Mines hurdlers had solid runs despite a headwind in the 110m led by Dominik Davis at 14.36 seconds, with Philippart running 14.47, Cooper McGinnis 14.76, Mason Znamenacek 15.04, and Eli Meyer 15.17. Julien Frazier led a trio of Mines runners in the 1,500m with a 4:09.80 time, ahead of Skyler Gillham (4:12.21) and Jackson Rogers (4:20.87).

The women's day on the track was led by Imani Fernandez-Gorbea, who ran the 1,500m less than a week after breaking the program 800m record with an NCAA-provisional 4:36.11. Sasha Kelly (5:01.92), Ella Kenly (5:07.25), Lilly Lukens (5:09.36), and Kara Tokubo (5:13.76) also ran in the women's 1,500m. Angela Friedman ran a personal-best 2:17.19 in the 800m, and Grace Galvin led three Orediggers in the 400m in 58.66 ahead of Avary Catchings (59.28) and Maya Evans (1:00.08) while Chloe Hawkins timed 15.81 seconds in the 100m hurdles. The meet ended with the 5,000m as Gabi Boeckman ran 18:57.68.

It was a busy day for Mines' throwers with all three circle events on the slate, and freshman Jonah Pfender led the way for the men with an NCAA-provisional and new personal-best 16.67m shot put result. Cade Whish threw 15.38m and Hayden Swim 14.41m in the shot, and Pfender again led Mines with a 45.34m discus result ahead of Keaton Reiman (44.55m), Whish (42.81m), and Chandler Smoak (42.53m). Swim topped the Oredigger men's entries in the hammer with a season-best 50.27m, a centimeter ahead of Reiman with Smoak marking 48.83m and Landon Mays 44.36m.

Jennifer Jarnagin topped the women's performances with her 57.79m hammer throw, and she later threw a personal-best and Mines #7 all-time performance of 12.89m in the shot put. Julianne Sugimae led the discus with a personal-best 40.30m mark as Megan Hopp threw 35.64m, while in the hammer, Audrey Ott (44.10m), Harper Tuffly (41.00m), and Hopp (34.22m) joined Jarnagin. The shot put competition had Ott throw 11.08m and Tuffly 10.97m.

On the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, freshman Sierra Wall produced a stunning race in her steeplechase debut, clocking a new Mines record 10:08.83 in the Invitational race. Wall, already a two-season all-American running her first-ever steeplechase, broke teammate Emily LaMena's record of 10:14.67 set two weeks ago; she also took over the national season lead from LaMena, who was the 2025 NCAA bronze medalist in the event.

Max Bonenberger also provided water pit fireworks with the second-fastest men's steeplechase time in program history, winning the men's open 3,000m steeplechase in 8:42.35, a nearly seven-second personal-best and, for the moment, the new #1 performance in NCAA Division II this season. Garrett Mackey ran the #9 Mines all-time performance with his 9:11.74 time, and Charlie Welch clocked 9:14.95. Margaux Basart timed 10:45.65 in the women's open steeplechase.

Callen Nash started the day with her personal-best 10,000m time of 35:25.15, moving her up to #4 on the Mines all-time list, and Braden Struhs closed it with a 10K PR of his own running the #5 Mines all-time mark of 28:55.97.

Action at the Bryan Clay continues Friday with Mines' 5,000m and 1,500m entries.
