Colorado School of Mines Men's Club Soccer claimed the Colorado Cup championship on Saturday, earning a pair of shutout victories in the top bracket to bring home the RMCSL Spring League title.
The Orediggers opened tournament play with a 2-0 win over Colorado College, controlling possession and dictating the pace throughout the match. Mines found the back of the net twice while the defense turned in a disciplined performance to preserve the clean sheet and advance to the championship match.
With the Colorado Cup title on the line later in the day, Mines squared off against Colorado Mesa University and delivered another gritty defensive effort in a 1-0 victory. In a tightly contested final, the Orediggers capitalized on a scoring chance and held firm defensively through the final whistle to secure the trophy.
The championship run saw Mines outscore opponents 3-0 across two matches, posting back-to-back shutouts against top competition.
By defeating both Colorado College and Colorado Mesa in the top bracket, the Orediggers were crowned Colorado Cup Champions, putting an exclamation point on the spring season and continuing the program's strong run of success.
