GOLDEN, Colo. — Colorado School of Mines Women's Club Soccer closed its spring season with a championship performance Sunday, capturing the Colorado Cup Secondary Bracket Title with victories over Northern Colorado and Colorado Mesa.
The Orediggers opened the day with a 2-0 win over Northern Colorado, turning in a strong all-around performance and posting a clean sheet to advance to the bracket final. Mines controlled play throughout the match and got timely contributions offensively to secure the result.
In the Colorado Cup Secondary Bracket Championship, Mines faced Colorado Mesa University and battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation in a tightly contested final. After neither side could find a winner in open play, the championship was decided in penalty kicks.
The Orediggers delivered under pressure in the shootout, defeating Colorado Mesa 4-3 on penalties to claim the bracket title and complete an unbeaten day.
With goals from Samantha Parks, Zoe Webster, Lexie Moore, Emma Robertson, Bella Henderson, and Madeline Faulk during the championship run, Mines capped the weekend with silverware and strong momentum heading into the offseason.
