The Colorado School of Mines Men's Ultimate delivered an impressive showing at the South Central Regional Tournament, finishing the weekend 5–1 and securing their spot at nationals.
Mines came out strong on Saturday, opening with an 11–5 win over Air Force Academy Ultimate. The momentum continued with a commanding 11–0 shutout against Harding University Ultimate, followed by an 11–1 victory over Missouri S&T Ultimate. They closed out pool play with another decisive win, defeating Colorado College Ultimate 11–6.
On Sunday, Mines faced a tough challenge in the championship game, falling 5–12 to Oklahoma Christian University Ultimate. Refusing to let the loss define their weekend, the team responded in dominant fashion, earning a 15–6 victory over Truman State University Ultimate to clinch their bid to nationals.
Leadership from seniors Carter Gonzales and Drew Holloran, along with standout play from junior Spencer Weldon, powered the Orediggers throughout the weekend. Holloran was especially impactful, dominating in the air and anchoring the defense with relentless intensity.
With the bid secured, Mines now turns its focus to the national stage. The team will compete for a title in Illinois from May 16–19, looking to carry their momentum into the biggest tournament of the season.
