he Colorado School of Mines Men's Club Lacrosse team wrapped up its 2026 campaign with a pair of tough losses, falling to Denver on April 1 and Oklahoma State on April 4. Despite the results, the weekend highlighted a strong defensive foundation and left the team optimistic about what's ahead.

On Wednesday night, Mines hosted Denver in what proved to be one of the team's most encouraging defensive performances of the season, despite a 9–1 final. The Orediggers held Denver to just three goals in settled six-on-six situations, showcasing discipline, communication, and structure on the defensive end.

While the defense stood tall, the offense struggled to capitalize. Mines generated several long, well-executed possessions but couldn't convert those opportunities into goals. Transition defense ultimately proved costly, as Denver took advantage of fast-break chances to build separation on the scoreboard. Even in defeat, the performance gave the team a clear picture of its defensive potential moving forward.

Saturday morning's matchup against Oklahoma State came with an unusual twist. Due to a miscommunication, OSU arrived late, forcing the game into a shortened format of two 20-minute running halves. The disruption didn't slow Oklahoma State early, as they jumped out to a quick lead and carried that momentum throughout an 8–2 win.

Mines again showed flashes offensively, with improved possessions compared to Wednesday's game, but faced similar struggles finishing scoring chances. Clearing issues also plagued the Orediggers, giving OSU additional opportunities to extend their lead.

Although the weekend didn't end the way Mines had hoped, the outlook remains positive. With only four seniors graduating, the team returns a strong core and a defense that proved it can compete at a high level. The foundation is set for a significant step forward next season.
